A very disregarded and yet extremely important part of your computer is represented by drivers. Their purpose is that of controlling a particular type of device that is attached to your computer. The good thing is that you do not have to install the drivers for all hardware components installed on your computer as the operating system incorporates a large part of them.
With the new OS from Microsoft, it has been awfully difficult to find matching drivers for your hardware components. It seemed as if manufacturers were taken by surprise and did not have the necessary time to adapt the software components for the hardware. Fortunately, things have settled and this problem is less and less of a thorn.
Although not too many users care about having the latest drivers installed, renovating the list is quite beneficial for your computer as operating system features are taken advantage of and issues are being fixed. I generally forget to take care of this aspect and remember only when I need to install a device all over again.
Windows will update the drivers that come bundled in it, but that is not enough as OS will not incorporate drivers for all hardware you want to install. Fortunately, there are specialized softwares that can take care of that.
DriverGuide Toolkit is one of them. The moment the application is launched, it'll immediately start retrieving information on your system and display all the drivers and devices it detects. I have to say that the list is impressive and I could not find a driver on my computer that was not listed by the software.
The choices in My Drives drop down menu allow viewing all the drivers detected on your computer and hiding/showing Microsoft drivers. The title of the menu will show the number of drivers detected on the computer. Unfortunately, the software takes its time when retrieving the list.
In the lower part of driver list, there is the Device Information tab providing details on the selected item. You will be shown info about hardware ID, manufacturer, version number, driver size, date of driver release, class, device ID, location information etc.
System Information tab provides details on BIOS, IDE Controller, Motherboard, Processor, System Cache and Temperature Probe. If Device Information tab is open, when clicking anywhere inside System Information window DriverGuide Toolkit will crash and close automatically. The issue is present both under Vista and XP.
As DriverGuide Toolkit has network capabilities, you can use the application to connect and disconnect from remote computers and work with the program as if Toolkit were installed remotely. However, this feature is not supported under Vista and XP Home Edition. Applied to XP Pro edition, the function allows you to retrieve all the information on both drivers and system as if it had the software installed.

A software that can encode media files of several extensions, including MP3, WAV, MIDI, RMVB, FLAC, AMR and M4A.
The interface of the program is user-friendly. You can use the treeview to browse for files (batch conversion is supported).
In the toolbar you can select your preferred output format, configure options and initiate the conversion process.
Thus, you can set the output destination, optionally add the output file to the iTunes library or delete originals, cut it by setting the start and end position (and preview the result).
You can also select the sample frequency rate, channels and bitrate, as well as combine an entire album into one file and set the sound font.
In addition, you can rip an audio CD, download clips from YouTube and convert them to a preferred format, create a favorites list, preview songs, save a log file and change the interface language.
The program uses a moderate amount of system resources, includes a well-drawn help file and quickly finishes a task (except when it's downloading from YouTube, which can take a very long time), while delivering a good sound quality.
However, it failed to encode an RM file (although it should recognize it). The program crashed and I had to restart it. Then it suddenly froze and I had to initialize it once more.
All in all, Total Audio Converter is a very good program for encoding audio files of various formats. However, it needs to fix its bugs and improve its stability. Otherwise, I would recommend it to all users.

Having a fast Internet connection is something any computer user dreams about and this is why the applications that promise to increase download and upload speeds are very popular. However, there are physical limits that cannot be surpassed by any software.
Among the programs that are designed to optimize and maximize the capabilities of your connection there's Internet Cyclone. It comes with an interface rather easy to use by all users and with several built-in profiles.
The first thing you should do prior to making any changes is a backup of your registry settings, either from Windows or directly through Internet Cyclone. Then, you can safely select the connection type and start tinkering with its settings.
The application prompts the user to choose between four different optimization methods, three automatic and a custom one. Of course, this last mode requires some computer knowledge, so it's better to try one of the first three and see which one best fits your needs.
The custom mode enables you to adjust the paramaters for the maximum transmission unit, the TTL, the cache size, the RWIN and the Session Keep Alive function. There are a few additional goodies but, once again, it's highly recommended to use the automatic settings if you don't know exactly what those are all about.
Each optimization requires a system reboot, so chances are that you'll restart the system three times before finding out which settings bring the greatest speed increase. I did the exact same thing during my test and I did get a slight speed boost, but nothing too impressive.
Overall, if you think your Internet connection is not as fast as you want it to be, Internet Cyclone can help you try to spice things up and optimize download and upload speeds as much as possible.

Why Does Your Computer Crash?
You may have heard of the ‘Blue Screen of Death’ but haven’t experienced it yet. It is better to know the reasons behind this crash so that when it happens you are in position to fix it. If you see on the screen “Fatal error: the system has become unstable or is busy”, “enter to return to Windows or press Control+Alt+Delete to restart your computer. If you do this you will lose any unsaved information in all open applications”. This is the infamous blue screen of death. This could happen due to any of these following reasons:
Hardware Problem:
Computer consists of different hardware such as Printer, mouse, flash drive etc. Windows assigns an IRQ number for each of these hardware. When due to some reasons more than one hardware use the same IRQ this will result in a crash. In order to find if you have any hardware conflicts you can go to the ‘Device Manager’ in your computer properties. (Start-Settings->Control Panel –> System->Device manager), an yellow exclamation mark will be placed against the hardware that has a conflict. You can resolve this by selecting the device, uninstalling and reinstalling it again.
RAM memory:
When you upgrade RAM memory, if you have two unmatched RAM cards or a RAM card that is not compatible with your motherboard, then a “Fatal Exception Error” will occur when you start the computer. If you are technically savvy then you may try to fix this by going to the BIOS settings and editing the ‘Wait state’ of RAM or you can replace the cards with the same speed and capacity.
Hard Disk Drive:
After using the computer for a few months or years, the hard disk gets fragmented with temporary files, or fragmented files. This will result in slowness of hard disk and may even result in computer crash eventually. You can maintain your harddisk by defragmenting your hard disk frequently and deleting unwanted files.
Video Card:
If you see “Fatal OE exceptions and VXD errors” then it is due to the video card. To solve this reduce the video display resolution. You can do so by going to the control panel and display settings. Choose the correct screen resolution to match your monitor and change the color settings to 16 bit or match it with your monitor.
Virus:
Most of the computer crash is due to Virus infection in your computer. You should install or enable windows firewall and install an Anti virus application to prevent unwanted virus applications infecting your computer.
Printer:
Sometimes you may notice that the computer crashes whenever you try to print something. This is due to low memory buffer in the printer. Therefore when you send a lot of data to the printer or if you have multiple applications open and you print at the same time, this may happen. Unplug the printer from power outlet for 10 minutes and connect back again. Close other programs and try to print again.
Software:
If a particular software is not installed properly or is not complete then it may result in a crash when you try to start that software. You have to uninstall such software properly. Otherwise some entries may still be in the registry referring to that software and result in instability of the computer. You can use registry cleaning software to clean your registries frequently.
Heat:
Computers have inbuilt fans to cool down the processors. You can control the CPU speed from your BIOS settings. If the speed is set to higher than the normal CPU speed, this may result in overheating of the CPU which will result in Kernel Error.
Power Supply:
Use UPS to regulate the power supply to your computer. This will reduce the chances of your computer crashing.

There are many reasons that cause this problem, let’s look the best solutions to this problem.
Solutions:
• First of all try to locate a small switch (if any, that you may have not noticed) at some place on the drive or memory card reader. This is the prime reason for this error. If there is one, switch it to the other side to turn the protection off.
• Yes I know this problem is also occurring these days without this switch but not to worry. Just download this helpful software from HERE or HERE and run it to execute a “low-level format” on the drive. This software is quite handy and may take few attempts to actually remove the error.
After the low level format, you may need to “Partition the drive“. Dont worry, partitioning a pen drive means allocating it its File System and Cluster Size that was lost after the Low Level Format.
For that:
- Run diskmgmt.msc in Run.
- In the disk management window, select the pen drive, right click on it and click on Format.
- Now choose the File System and Allocation Unit Size and do not check the boxes below.
>> If that low level format tool does not work, try this method.
1. Type CMD into the Start Menu box to open the Command Prompt OR open All Programs-Accessories and then right click on Command Prompt and run as an administrator.
2. In the Command Prompt type each of the following commands and then hit the Enter Key after each command.
Type DISKPART and then hit the Enter Key
Type LIST DISK and then hit the Enter Key
Type SELECT DISK 1 (Replace with disk number) and then hit the Enter Key
Now if you want to remove or disable the write protection on USB Flash Drive, just type ATTRIBUTES DISK CLEAR READONLY and hit the Enter key. Now try adding some files to your flash drive and see if everything is normal as before.
• BUT if none of the methods listed above solves your problem then your pen drive might have gone corrupted, so just get it replaced.
